The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has granted Google Ventures-backed bitcoin options service LedgerX the status of a swap execution facility (SEF).

The parent company of bitcoin options exchange operator LedgerX has raised $11.4m in a Series B funding round.

Miami International Holdings, Inc. (MIH), the parent holding company of the MIAX Options Exchange, and Ledger Holdings Inc., the parent holding company of LedgerX LLC, have jointly announced that MIH has completed an investment in Ledger Holdings.

To gain a better understanding of Bitcoin, the blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies, the CFTC is adding an experienced bitcoin trading expert, LedgerX CEO Paul L. Chou , to their committee of technology advisers.
