A seed round is a financing round that raises initial capital to start a business. Seed capital often comes from the company founders' personal assets, friends and family, angel investors, and VCs. A seed round is often raised on a convertible note, due to the difficulty of setting a specific valuation on an early venture; however, many seed rounds are also priced rounds. Startups frequently have more than one seed round of funding.
